What We Think Of The New Sisley-Paris Sensitive Soothing Care Cream
The family-run empire, which has been championing the sustainable use of plants from all over the world in exceptionally concentrated formulas for over four decades, is now taking an important step by launching Sensitive Skin Soothing Care. Pouring all its expertise into this cream, it’s set to be game changer for those who struggle with sensitive skin.
Sisley’s expert team have focused on the main causes for sensitive skin (such as hyperreactive skin nerve fibres caused by chemical, physical, emotional or lifestyle-related factors, and a lack of lipids) to create a cream designed to offer immediate and lasting comfort and increase the skin’s tolerance threshold. It’s made from 100% natural-origin ingredients including golden kelp extract, rhamnose polysaccharide, Japanese lily of the valley, shea butter, rapeseed oil and plum kernel oil.
Boasting a natural fragrance provided by its ingredients, Sisley-Paris Sensitive Skin Soothing Care promises to reduce redness and promote soft, supple and hydrated skin. Users can expect skin to look stronger and more resilient after two weeks, and to have lasting comfort and look more radiant and youthful after four weeks.
With this in mind, we asked two of our team members who have sensitive skin to test this new product and share their honest thoughts. Keep scrolling to find out whether Sisley-Paris Sensitive Skin Soothing Care gets a seal of approval from these sensitive skin types.
SHAWNEE’S Sisley-Paris Sensitive Soothing Care Cream REVIEW
My skin has always been really sensitive, tending to look red without makeup on. I've spent most of my skincare discovery journey trying to find something that tames the redness, while also making my skin feel soothed and calmed.
When shopping for a moisturiser, I usually look for fragrance-free formulas with gentle, caring ingredients – rarely would I go for something very active. When the opportunity came up to try this cream, I was incredibly excited! The brand is known for luxurious and reliable products, and having been really impressed with its bodycare range, I had high hopes for this moisturiser.
Upon my first try of this cream, I immediately liked the texture. It feels rich and smooth, with no noticeable fragrance. The packaging was beautiful and sleek, and I like that you can lock the pump disperser so no product goes to waste. I initially used this cream in the morning and evening as instructed – however, I actually found this ended up being too much for my skin, and I experienced a little bit of a breakout. I realised that the best way to use this is in the evening – I’d wake up the next day looking ‘glowy’ and refreshed, and my skin immediately felt balanced and happy.
This cream couldn't have come at a better time for me, as it got me through a very cold snap in the weather! I’d come home from work and my face would be tingling with the cold – my skin tends to get extremely dried out if it's been exposed to cold weather, but I did find that while using this cream I didn't experience as much dryness or redness as I’d usually expect.
I wouldn't replace my usual moisturiser with this cream, but I will absolutely be keeping it in my collection to use as a treatment. If you're someone who has dryness and sensitivity, I would really recommend using this on days where you experience discomfort, as it really tames any soreness and redness. However, if you’re prone to breakouts, I would slowly ease this into your routine.
Overall, I've enjoyed this cream. I've looked forward to using it in the evening, it fits well into my current routine, and I've liked the results I've seen!
JOSEPH’S Sisley-Paris Sensitive Soothing Care Cream REVIEW
Because my skin is very sensitive, I have a very basic skincare routine as don't want to irritate it too much. I suffer with dry patches, so prefer ultra hydrating face creams.
The first thing I noticed (and rated) about this product was the packaging – I love that there’s a pump instead of having to dip your fingers into a pot. The texture itself was really nice, very lightweight. I used it on its own in my AM routine – and I’d say I liked pretty much everything about this product.
My skin remained mostly nourished throughout the day. I did find myself reapplying it around my mouth and chin area as this is where my skin gets the driest, but otherwise it performed well. My skin instantly felt calmer, less itchy and irritated.
While I’m yet to notice any long-term effects, I’m definitely going to keep using it as it’s really pleasant and soothing. I'd recommend it to anyone with redness or irritated and itchy skin.
THE VERDICT ON SISLEY-PARIS SENSITIVE SKIN SOOTHING CARE
Both Shawnee and Joseph enjoyed using this cream and are going to keep it in their routines. While Joseph used it in his morning routine, Shawnee preferred it for her nighttime routine. These are the main takeaways from Sisley-Paris Sensitive Skin Soothing Care:
The Pros: Our two colleagues found the soothing results were instant, with Shawnee feeling it helped her looked radiant. They both agree that it seems to help with redness, dryness and irritation.
The Cons: “As my skin is really dry, I would love for the texture of this to be slightly thicker – but otherwise it’s really nice,” says Joseph. As for Shawnee, she did experience a light breakout, which made her reframe from using it both morning and evening. This is something to bear in mind if you have sensitive skin and do tend to get blemishes.
