Is This Under Eye Brightener The Answer To Tired Eyes?

Rare Beauty Under Eye Brightener Review | Space NK
At some point or another we’ve all woken up with dark circles that no amount of concealer will disguise. Makeup artists often employ a dot of highlighter in the inner corners of the eyes to help lift them, or they reach for an under eye corrector. However, since the much-loved Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector was discontinued in 2019 in the UK and 2021 worldwide, nothing has come close to achieving its complexion-lifting results – despite several brands trying.

Rare Beauty is a brand like no other though. Selena Gomez hasn’t attempted to replicate Becca’s formula, instead she’s created a makeup product that was missing in her own routine. Is it worth adding Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener to your daily makeup routine? Read on…

Top Line On Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener

Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Under Eye Brightener is super lightweight and can be worn alone or on top of your usual concealer. Infused with soothing vitamin E, the formula promises to hydrate and lift dark circles instantly. There are six shades to choose from, ranging from light to deep, to work across all skin tones and undertones.

Everything You Need To Know About Rare Beauty’s Under Eye Brightener

Not to be confused with concealers, under eye correctors are much lighter in texture and sheerer in finish. They’re also packed full of light-reflecting, hydrating ingredients to lift dark circles. Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Under Eye Brightener is a liquid corrector with a cooling metal tip applicator. I’ve tried two of the most renowned under eye correctors, but neither had the metal applicator and it makes a huge difference. The cool tip feels instantly soothing, especially if you’re prone to puffy eyes in the morning.

I use a dot of Rare Beauty’s Under Eye Brightener under each eye and gently tap it onto my skin, around the inner corner of my eye where it’s darkest. You can use it before or after your usual concealer (the brand recommends after to reap all the brightening effects). Unless it’s a special occasion, I’ve been using it on its own as I find it’s enough. I’ve included a swatch of the Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener in Light/Medium below.

Rare Beauty also suggests trying it as a highlighter. I prefer more of dewy, pearlescent highlighter (Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer, £24.00 and RMS Beauty Luminizer, £39.00 are my go-to’s), but it’s definitely worth keeping in mind.

The Verdict On Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener

If the iconic Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector was a permanent fixture in your makeup bag, you’ll be thrilled with the Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener. As someone who stockpiled the featherlight balm when Becca announced it was exiting the UK market, I can confirm Rare Beauty’s Under Eye Brightener is easily just as good, if not better thanks to the cooling metal applicator. If dark circles aren’t a concern for you, this won’t be a makeup essential, but if they are, Rare Beauty’s formula will be a game-changer for you.
