Meet The Must-Have Makeup Buy For Oily Skin
Enter the NARS Soft Matte Collection, which has slowly but surely been expanding to give the matte-skin look a revival. Our Beauty Editor reviewed the NARS Soft Matte Foundation a few months ago and she loved it so much, I just had to try the new NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder for myself.
Topline about the NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder
We all know and love NARS for its glow-boosting makeup formulas like the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation, £41.00 and the iconic Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, £27.00, but I'm loving the fact that mattifying base products are making a comeback to help control shine. The Nars Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder, £31.00 is a new type of mattifying powder that promises to set your makeup and minimise shine with a superfine texture that you can barely feel or see. I’ve been putting the shade Sun Shore to the test for a couple weeks, read on for my thoughts on the new NARS Soft Matte Powder.
Everything you need to know about the NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder
Because of my oily skin, I have to use a setting powder otherwise I look shiny within around an hour of applying my makeup. The tricky thing with a lot of mattifying powders is that they often absorb too much oil and can leave me looking cakey. Enter the new NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder, which, if I'm honest, became an instant favourite. This is the first mattifying powder I’ve tried in a long time that leaves a natural finish while keeping my skin matte. What I really love is that it still allows my skin to glow despite the mattifying factor.
The texture of the NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder is very fine and feels light on the skin, not at all was I was expecting. It instantly mattifies your skin without making it look dry or cakey, nobody was able to tell I was wearing a powder. What I really loved is that I didn’t need to reapply the powder throughout the workday, sometimes you feel the need to touch up, especially on the T-zone. This mattifying powder doesn't budge either.
I also really appreciate that this powder is available in eight flexible shades (I'm wearing Sun Shore). Usually I have to opt for a translucent powder because the shades don’t suit my skin tone. This is the first time I found a shade that perfectly matches my skin tone, not lighter or darker. The image above shows half my face with NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder and the other half without, I think it's pretty obvious which is which.
Finally, I'd say the sleek packaging makes it very easy to carry around everywhere in case you need to do any touch ups in the evening.
The verdict on the NARS Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder
The Nars Soft Matte Advanced Perfecting Powder, £31.00 is like no other mattifying powder I’ve used before. If you have oily skin and are dreading the warmer days like me, this will be the perfect addition to your makeup bag. It truly helps control that shine and keep your makeup in place all day. The texture of this powder is light as a feather, no need to worry about looking cakey as the day goes by. In a time when dewy and glowy skin are all the rage, I’m glad NARS has been expanding the Soft Matte range to keep those with oily skin like me in check.
