Jamie Genevieve Gives Us Three Ways To Wear Blush
If you thought blusher was just for the apples of your cheeks, be prepared to be educated. Makeup artist and brand founder, Jamie Genevieve talks us through her three favourite ways to use blush. Showcasing the versatility of cream blushers, in particular the VIEVE Blush Balm, Jamie gives us a masterclass in creating a healthy-looking glow.
And, for those wondering, Jamie's flawless base is the glow-boosting combination of VIEVE Modern Radiance Concealer, £27.00 and VIEVE Skin Dew, £11.00 blended together and buffed onto skin with a brush.
The All-In-One Look
Whether you’re keen to tap into TikTok’s monochrome makeup trend, or you want to minimise your makeup stash, VIEVE Sunset Blush Balm, £24.00 is more than just a traditional blusher and can be used across your eyes, cheeks and lips. Jamie showcased the look with Cherub, which is a pretty pink and the brightest shade in the range. “Less is more for this as you can build the blush up for a bolder look," says Jamie. "Use a sponge, brush or your fingers to start buffing the liquid blush onto your cheeks, eyes and lips.”
Jamie’s Top Tip: “If you want a bolder look, use VIEVE Sunset Blush, £27.00 on top. The powder is finely milled and has been formulated to be layered on top of creams without the cakey. Cream before powder, I promise it'll give you the finish you're looking for.”
The Sunkissed Look
The ‘W’ is a well-versed technique when it comes to applying bronzer, sweeping the powder along your cheeks and over your nose, and Jamie proved it works for your blusher too. Over on TikTok, the alphabet trick also goes by the name of ‘sunburn blush’. Jamie recommends opting for a warm blusher shade to recreate this look, such as VIEVE Sunset Blush Balm, £24.00 in Piazza. The sheerness of these Blush Balms makes this look much easier to achieve as you can start soft and build up to a bolder look depending on your vibe.
Jamie’s Top Tip: “Applying a warmer toned blush across your nose, cheeks and up towards the outer corners of your eyes mimics the look of sitting in the sun all day – but without the sun damage! It works on a fresh base or even on bare skin.”
The Sculpted Look
It’s no secret that blusher has the power to breathe life into dull, tired-looking skin instantly, but did you know it can also lift your entire face too? Neither did we, until we watched Jamie take VIEVE Sunset Blush Balm, £24.00 in Rosa from the tops of her cheekbones up to her hair line. This is one of those looks that we recommend trying out on one side of your face and then stop to admire the results before finishing the other side. Trust us.
Jamie's Top Tip: “Use a deep blush shade on the areas you’d bronze - such as VIEVE Sunset Blush Balm, £24.00 in Pesca - and take a pinky-peachy tone around your hairline and temples for that subtle lifted look. Layer with powder bronzer for extra dimension.”
