We Dive Into Then I Met You's Bong² Bounce Moisturiser
Dedicating over a decade to studying the secrets of Korean beauty rituals, Cho was inspired by the cultural value of Jeong – a profound feeling of affection that blooms between people, places and moments that matter most, spawning Then I Met You’s suitably romantic name and playful spirit.
The perfect marriage of science-backed formulas and time-honoured traditions, heritage ingredients such as persimmon, ginseng and fermented rice are at the core of Then I Met You skincare collection. Collaborating closely with cosmetic chemists in Seoul, these natural ingredients are extracted and enhanced to deliver premium results.
But is Then I Met You as great as the hype? We wanted to see for ourselves. You may have heard of the label’s sorbet-smooth cleansing balm or pure-purifying facial masks, but how about the new Then I Met You Bong² Bounce Cream? We asked two Space NK team members with varying skin types to test it out, here are their honest thoughts…
Sophia's Then I Met You Bong² Bounce Cream Review
• Skin type:occasional dry patches and redness
• Skin tone: Pale
•The product: Then I Met You Bong² Bounce Cream, € 19,55
Combining cutting-edge innovation with traditional techniques, K-Beauty is still very much in demand and the Bong² Bounce Cream is a case in point. Powered by the mega hydrators that are squalane and ceramides with nectar squeezed from juicy Hallabongs on the island of Jeju, this cream promises to boost barrier function and deliver a dewy, long-lasting glow.
When I first tested this moisturiser, I was charmed by its sunflower-yellow colour (uniquely derived from antioxidant-rich seaberry) and citrusy scent – it certainly brightened up a sleepy Monday morning. I dread my dryness returning each summer as the temperature soars, so was intrigued to see how the Bong² Bounce Cream would remedy my biggest skincare concern. This juicy, gel-like cream was soft on the skin and instantly gave my complexion a cooling, glass-like radiance so distinctive of Korean Beauty.
I expect a rich and heavy texture with most barrier-targeted treatments, but the Bong² Bounce Cream had a pleasant featherlight feel and soothed my redness (thanks to the generous helping of Vitamin C) with just a few applications. After multiple uses, I noticed my skin was treated to a visible bounce – as so confidently claimed by the product – and remained hydrated throughout the day. No complaints from me!
Hanitra's Then I Met You Bong² Bounce Cream Review
• Skin type: Oily and acne-prone
• Skin tone: Medium-tan
•The product: Then I Met You Bong² Bounce Cream, € 19,55
I usually reach for an airy, gel-like moisturiser, especially in the summer months as they are great for long-lasting hydration and don’t clog my pores. The texture of Bong² Bounce Cream is quite different from any other moisturiser I’ve tried before – it’s lightweight, refreshing and a little goes a long way. I tend to avoid fragranced products as they often provoke irritation. However, I experienced no issues with this cream and the sorbet scent only enhanced the Jejong enjoyment.
The liquid-like texture also acted as the perfect partner for makeup. I had a few concerns as gel-focused formulations often contain silicones that lead to skin pilling, but this cream melted seamlessly into my skin and didn’t react with any other products.
Although I layer on multiple antioxidants to protect my skin from the pollution of living in a capital city, I can also tell my skin barrier has been thriving with regular use of the Bong² Bounce Cream and, most importantly, appears noticeably more plump and hydrated.
I’ve always admired how Then I Met You celebrates the nurturing properties of respected Korean Skincare and combines these traditional ingredients with modern, innovative techniques. I will definitely pair this product with my treasured Living Sea Cleansing Tonic and the Birch Milk Refining Toner in the future.
The Verdict on Then I Met You's Bong² Bounce Cream Review
Light-as-air, delicate and soft on the skin, Then I Met You’s Bong Bounce Cream is the latest creation to enter the Korean beauty brand’s lineup of skincare. Both Sophia and Hanitra were impressed by the cream’s glow-giving properties and noticed a boost in the texture and feel of their skin. Although this moisturiser is intended for oilier skin types, Sophia discovered it’s juicy, gel-like texture worked well with her dry skin giving an extra pop of radiance.
