We Review the New Delicia Drench Exclusives
Containing a trio of minis in the mood-boosting Cheirosa 59 scent, as well as the Body Butter and Perfume Mist, there’s a new product on the block – the Delicia Drench Shower Oil. Also launching as a stand-alone product, the Shower Oil is a first for the brand and will be available in travel and full size so you can take it with you wherever you go. And if that wasn’t enough, Sol is keeping the excitement going with the new Rio Deo deodorant in the same iconic scent. They’re truly spoiling us with their scent layering possibilities.
What’s in the new Sol de Janeiro line-up
Sol de Janeiro
Delicia Drench Jet Set, £ 30,00
The Exclusive Sol Set
An absolute dream for this time of year when colder weather is sucking the moisture out of your skin and needs all the hydration help it can get, this Sol collection is called ‘drench’ for a reason. Containing the brand new Delicia Drench Shower Oil, this transforms from a shower oil to a milk on contact with water which makes it feel super luxe, as well as releasing the fragrance as it melts into skin.
Once skin is dry, massage in the Body Butter. The thickest of all Sol’s body moisturisers, its whipped formula locks in moisture for up to 24 hours thanks to its shea butter, hyaluronic acid and seed oil blend that leaves skin saturated with fatty acids (read: plumping). We’ve tried it and can confirm its hydrating ability.
Then, for a finishing touch, spritz the Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist onto skin to leave it dappled with the aroma of vanilla orchid and sandalwood. Warming and comforting but not quite as sweet as the original Sol de Janeiro ’62 scent, it’s actually been proven to boost the wearer’s mood – a must when cold, dark days feel like they go on forever. We’ve definitely got a spring in our step since trying it.
And did we mention the handy travel bag? The perfect size to pop in your gym kit or overnight bag, it’ll come in handy time and time again.
Sol de Janeiro
Delicia Drench Shower Oil, £ 10,00
The New Nourishing Body Wash
The first shower oil from Sol de Janiero, this is a silky soft formula that glides over skin as an oil and transforms into a light creamy milk on contact with water. Containing prebiotics and antioxidant rich oils, it’s designed not only to care and moisturise skin, but also to balance the microbiome which means your skin barrier stays protected and healthy at all times. When trialling it, we found that a little goes a long way, which is wonderful as you won’t want it to run out, and also, because of its glide and slip on the skin, it’s a great option if you regularly shave your legs.
Scented with the Cheirosa 59 fragrance that still has the signature vanilla sweetness that Sol’s known and loved for, but with the addition of plum and sandalwood notes that give it a touch more warmth and woodiness.
Sol de Janeiro
Rio Deo Cheirosa '59, £ 16,00
The No Sweat Solution
Joining the Sol de Janeiro Rio Deo deodorant line-up is Cheirosa 59. Infused with the delicious scent, that smells like toffee and caramel, this naturally derived formula is aluminium and baking soda free and eliminates odour to keep you feeling (and smelling) fresh. Designed to work with your body by lowering the skin’s natural pH, in turn it prevents the bacteria that causes odour to form. We tried it and can confirm its workout, commuter and woolly jumper proof and kept our armpits scented with Cheirosa 59 and nothing else. It’s also refillable which means you reduce plastic waste by 58% every time you buy a refill which is always a win in our eyes.
Sol de Janeiro
Delicia Drench Body Butter, £ 21,00
The Super Hydrating Moisturiser
Sol de Janeiro's body lotion, the Delicia Drench Body Butter is richer than its other body lotions and has been formulated to soothe dry skin and strengthen your skin barrier, locking in moisture.Infused with bacuri butter to improve your skin barrier and restore essential fatty acids and amino acids, as well as a prebiotic hibiscus to balance your skin’s natural microbiome, this body butter is more than your run-of-the-mill body lotion. It’s also packed full of hyaluronic acid to boost hydration levels.
Scented with a sandalwood and vetiver base, this fragrance has a grown-up freshness, but the vanilla and velvet plum notes still nod to the gourmand vibe that Sol de Janeiro perfumes are known for. Our reviewer, Lizzie says: "Delicia Drench is kind of solid and you have to warm it up in your hands a bit before rubbing it in. Importantly, I didn’t find it sticky, it just felt moisturising. For me, the smell was a bit too much. I could smell it on my hands throughout the day, even after washing them. As the fragrance dried down, it gave me cocoa butter vibes were a bit sweet but the formula did leave me skin feeling really soft."
