At the risk of sounding like an ancient millennial, I’m no stranger to Perfecting Skin Tint – back in the day, it was one of my go-to bases. I felt like I’d found my ultimate ‘your skin but better’ look and it was a staple in my makeup bag. Gradually however, I started to feel like it wasn’t quite enough for my ageing and at times textured complexion – and I eventually gravitated towards fuller coverage foundations as well as other skin tints that had more coverage. It felt like the end of a love story…
But fast-forward (quite) a few years, and nostalgia got the best of me – which is why I couldn’t resist revisiting what was once such a beloved makeup product for me. Even though I’m significantly older than when I first tried Perfecting Skin Tint, I’m feeling more at peace with my skin that I did back then (a better skincare routine has definitely helped this). So, the main question I wanted to answer with this review was whether there was any chance this skin tint could once again become a part of my makeup routine.
Trying it again reminded me why I liked it so much in the first place. It’s a super lightweight formula that you have to shake before use and feels like a serum – because it’s so light, I wouldn’t apply it with a sponge or brush. It was also tempting to build it up and even add another layer, but I found that if I did this the shade would look a bit off – so I stuck to a few dollops. I found the finish just the right amount of dewy for my oily complexion, and it didn’t make me look any extra greasy towards the end of the day. For the most part, it lasted well too – but I’ll always powder and set my face even if I’m going for a lighter base.

When it comes to complexion makeup, I like to use a product that's buildable and that's quite sheer, where my skin still shows through. So I usually tend to favour a skin tint or a tinted moisturiser, over a foundation. As a makeup buyer, I have tested my fair share of skin tints, so I was keen to try this one as I love everything Glossier.
The formula builds up really well, while the coverage is quite sheer at first, I found that it can achieve medium coverage. I like that it feels quite breathable and looks quite dewy. It did mix it with Futuredew (which I love) but I wouldn't recommend doing so because it can look almost oily. Overall, I really liked the finish of the skin tint, my skin looked blurred and even, which is something I look for, especially on days when I tend to get hormonal breakouts.
Unlike other skin tints, this one really held throughout the day and I found that it still looked the same towards the end of the day. I did use a setting spray, which I always do at the end of the day. I found that the coverage lasted all day. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's looking for a new complexion product and is already a fan of Glossier, they won't be disappointed.
Olivia's review of Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint

Skin type: Combination
Skin tone: Fair with pink undertones, prone to redness

As someone who deals with redness, I like my complexion makeup to be medium coverage and easy to build, I like when my skin still shows through but I like to be able to even out my complexion, especially on days when I flare up. When I first tried the Perfecting Skin Tint, the consistency was quite thin and watery (more than I expected!). I applied it with a damp BeautyBlender but I think you could easily use your fingers, and the result would be the same.
The coverage was very sheer, because of this I did go in and add some more layers to my areas of redness or over any spots I had to provide more coverage, and it did build up somewhat. The finish was nice and definitely gives that “your skin, but better” effect! To my surprise, the skin tint lasted all day - at the end of the work day, the coverage hadn't faded at all, so I think this would be a nice one to take me from day-to-night easily.
All in all, I think this is a great daytime product that I'll definitely keep using. It's one of those products that's good to have in your makeup bag for the days when you need something easy to apply, that's doesn't provide loads of coverage. I'd recommend this to anyone who leans towards a light coverage product, and it quite low maintenance with their makeup routine. I also think people with dry skin would love this, as it feels quite hydrating.
The team's verdict on the Perfecting Skin Tint
If you're looking for a product that will even out your complexion but is still lightweight, you might really love this formula. Just like other Glossier products, it's very easy to apply and can be the perfect product to apply on-the-go or if you're in a rush and you'd still get great results.
The pros: It blurs the skin for a natural finish. The formula works well for drier skin types, thanks to the glycerin. Skin looks healthy and dewy, and the product doesn't fade throughout the day.
Not suitable for: If your skin is on the oilier side, this product may not be suitable for you as it could look oily toward the end of the day. For a matte look, we'd recommend the Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation, £34.00.
