The story of Kilian
Cocktail being a prevalent term. Founded by Killian Hennessy – of the Hennessy cognac empire - Killian decided to swerve his distillery destiny and pivot into perfume. Using his childhood memories of the sugar in alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels, he studied the semantics of scent and trained alongside some of the most renowned noses in the world, completing an internship at DIOR before working for brands including Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani.In 2007 Kilian decided to launch his eponymous brand. Working closely with renowned noses, he creates scents that tell a story inspired by his personal memories. Shunning the traditional fragrance families (floral, chypre, woody, gourmand, citrus etc), his scents fall into five key collections – The Liquors, The Narcotics, The Smokes, The Fresh and The Cellars. Using only the finest raw ingredients that ensure long-lasting aromas, he likes his scents to be seductive and sophisticated and we haven’t smelt a single one that doesn’t fall under that brief.
The bottles also form part of the Killian experience, with the liquors collection housed in weighty flacons that mimic cut crystal brandy glasses. Individual works of art, Kilian made a conscious effort to design them with the idea that they only need to be purchased once but be refilled indefinitely.

Deemed Kilian’s most personal fragrance creation, inspired by the Hennessy family dynasty of cognac making, angels’ share refers to the evaporation of liquor from the oak barrels that the distilleries consider a silent offering to the gods. Blending cognac oil, oak absolute, cinnamon and tonka bean with praline and vanilla to create a scent that’s alluring and addictive, if you tend to favour gourmand fragrances, this is without doubt for you. But that’s the point. Intoxicating, most likely as a result of the alcohol notes, it represents forbidden temptations and is part of Kilian’s ‘The Cellars’ collection. There’s almost something oldy worldy about the fragrance, but that could be because of the patchouli which is known for creating an earthy aroma.
