The highly stable retinol present in this formula works to reduce the appearance of fine lines, photo damage and general signs of skin ageing. It also encourages natural cell turnover, helping to promote softer and healthier-looking skin while working to minimise the appearance of blemishes and dark spots.
As retinol can cause irritation to the skin, newer technologies now exist to mimic the visible effects of retinol without causing as much discomfort for the skin. With this in mind, The Ordinary recommends beginning with lower concentrations in order to build up tolerance.

Apply a small amount to face in the PM as part of your skincare regimen, after water-based serums but before heavier treatments.
Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure.
Caution: Retinol can cause irritation, redness and peeling, especially around the eyes and mouth, in the early stages of treatment while skin builds tolerance. If persistent irritation occurs, cease use and consult a physician.
Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children. Refrigerate after opening.

Great introduction to retinol
I’m 35 and wanted something a bit more intense to help fine lines without breaking the bank (or heading down injectable lane) so have the ordinary retinol a go, it’s only been a few weeks but I can tell a massive difference in the overall appearance of my skin, reduced lines and reduced redness the two most noticeable. I will say though definitely wear a high spf alongside using this as I noticed my skin became slightly more sensitive the first couple of weeks!

Great results
This is my first time introducing a retinol into my skincare routine. I am really pleased with the results already. The product is delicate and a good place to start with retinol. I will definitely be repurchasing and hope to increase the percentage of retinol across The Ordinary range.

I can see improvements after just one month
I started using this product one month ago. I'm 44, have oily skin with large pores and it can look quite uneven. After just one month I can see my skin is more radiant and smoother. I think I will need to use it a little longer to see improvements in dark spots. I have pretty hardy skin, so I use it every day on my face after moisturiser. 30ml is too much for just the face so I'm trying a few drops on my neck and decolletage to see what happens.

Great product, poor marketing
Would've been nice to know this needs to be refrigerated... I ended up *accidentally* finding out through REDDIT, of all places, that this needs to be refrigerated. I'm really annoyed that I wasted almost an entire bottle of product because any indication of such on your site requires users to search extensively for it. Definite over sight that I now see other users have mentioned and you have not addressed it other than, "lol, yup, sucks to be you." Boooooo.

Yes, but... Indecisive.
There are other products on the market with the same potency, far less irritating and far stronger. Perhaps if it were combined with an element that helps reduce irritation, such as vitamin E or something, it could make an icomparably effective product.
